Our Sports Crew members play a fundamental role in shaping and developing Sport within our school, they help to plan and deliver our Sainsbury's School Games programme. They are a group of children from KS2 who join together to lead the planning and delivery of our school sport clubs and Level 1 (intra) school competition programme.
They influence and shape the school sport offer for their class by deciding on the types of competitions to be held, their structure and where and when they take place. This helps make the Sainsbury's School Games even more attractive and accessible for all our children at Cecil Road Primary School.
As well as helping to organize and promote the Sainsbury's School Games, the sports crew will ensure that the Sainsbury's School Games meets the needs of every child in school.
We have got 45 play leaders that volunteer to give up their break and lunch times to organise games for our children.
The scheme is run by Mrs Gill one of our teaching assistants, the preparation begins in year 5 when the children receive training from Take Pride on how and what games to set up for all the different aged children in school.
The play leaders play a very important part in ensuring that our children are able to enjoy active and happy playtimes. Also if there are any worries or upsets then our children know that the play leaders are there to help.
