Assessment and End of Key Stage Data
The DfE introduced a new primary accountability system which has reformed primary assessment in 2016.
This includes a new ‘expected standard’ (a higher standard than in previous years) for children in Year 6.
Alongside new National Curriculum tests in English, Reading and Mathematics, with outcomes reported as a scaled scores ranging from 80 to 120 rather than levels. Writing is assessed via teacher assessment.
A scaled score of 100 is the ‘expected standard’, this allows schools and the DfE to track progress as well as attainment for the children.
