Cecil Road Primary & Nursery

Pupil Premium Information

Every child has the right to feel inspired to achieve academic success and to grow emotionally and socially during their time at Cecil Road Primary and Nursery School, with this in mind we use the following key strategies to support the progress and attainment of children eligible for ‘Pupil Premium Funding’

Ensure that teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all pupils.

  • Provide opportunities and life-experiences which the children might not otherwise have access to. These include school clubs and educational visits.
  • Seek to ensure that disadvantaged children attend school with the same regularity as their non-disadvantaged peers.
  • Promote positive behaviour for learning across the school to support an environment which empowers all pupils to make good progress.
  • Support pupils, parents and carers emotionally and financially in order to help them to deal with the pressures of modern life.
  • Ensure that appropriate provision is made for pupils who belong to vulnerable groups, this includes ensuring that the needs of pupils who receive pupil premium funding are adequately assessed and addressed.
  • We recognise that not all pupils who are disadvantaged are registered or qualify for free school meals. We reserve the right to allocate the Pupil Premium Funding to support any pupil or groups of pupils the school has identified as being disadvantaged. Each intervention will be inclusive of pupils receiving the pupil premium funding.

Pupil premium funding will be allocated following a needs analysis which will identify priority classes, groups or individuals. School leaders and governing bodies have ensured that our school is tracking the progress of pupils in receipt of free school meals (FSM) to demonstrate how the school is using the Pupil Premium.  It is for the school to determine how best to use the funding – there is no prescription within allocation(s) other than funding should not be simply added to the Dedicated Schools Grant budget allocation in order to compensate for any recent financial cutbacks to schools.
