Welcome to year 5! Throughout the year, we provide our children with exciting learning opportunities to help inspire and creative active learners. We have a variety of interesting topics that we cover ranging from Space to the Ancient Greeks. We plan extra curricula activities and organise school trips to help enrich our topics further. When moving to year 5, the children are now part of upper KS2 and this often comes with extra responsibilities such as being play leaders.
Home reading is actively encouraged using Accelerated Reader. Children progress at a level right for them, reading a book of their choice and quizzing online to check their comprehension. We encourage the children to take ownership of their home reading, letting their teachers know when they need an assessment or new book.
Homework is set online via Doodle and all children are expected to complete the set work for English and Maths.
